black door at number 10
I'm always amazed at how that black door is sooo shiny. You can almost see your reflection in it. Do they clean it everyday/several times a day? What did they paint it with, some kind of special paint?
My black door has never been that shiny

Number 10 Downing Street (which is the street I assume you are talking about here) doesn't have a keyhole, which means that it cannot be locked of course. One of the many reasons why you see a police officer on duty outside the front door. Mind you in the aftermath of the July 7th terrorist attacks, one would thought that the door would be modernised to inlcude about 20 locks, chains, bolts and the like built into it.
I would love to see the door painted in blue (but that's only because blue is my favourite colour...)
lol happy_face - I have to admit to thinking the same!
I've no idea what paint they use but apparently they cheat & have two doors, so that when it needs redoing they just whip it away & put another one on. Now why didn't we think of that?!
The worst thing for making paintwork dull is strong sun - are you on the sunny side of the street?
Wow, I had no idea about the keyhole, but then again I've never been close enough to notcice whether there was one or not.
Yes I agree blue would look a lot nicer, I'm surprised Blair didn't get it painted red, with Labour and all that.
Robinia Yes I do live on the sunny side so maybe that's why and the fact that a lot of cars pass by.
Thanks for your very interesing answers
