when was chess invented and who by? does being able to play well correlate with being of higher inelligence? cos i suck but enjoy it, do you see?

Chess was invented in one of the following (take your pick as no one can be 100% sure)...China....Persia....India.....and prowess at chess is no indicator of intelligance and vice versa.....Einstien was said to be totally hopeless and some of the great players of the past haven't been the sharpest knifes in the box either.....and some have been absolute loonies check out a websearch on Paul Morphy and Bobby Fischer for reall head bangers.
