SS Canadian Farmer???
Hello People
I am doing my family tree, and yesterday someone asked me if I knew anything about the SS Canadian Farmer which was a cargo boat around 1900. The Captain was a J P Sharp, I am having difficulty finding anything about this ship, and I can't find anything about the captain, anyone got any ideas??

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.List of immigrant ships http://www.fortunecity.com/littleitaly/amalfi/13/shipc.htm has no SS Canadian Farmer (does have a 'Canada', sailing around 1881 as above, though) and the Ship List - a directory of sailings with shipping lines and ships - http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/lines/index.htm has none listed on their database.
SS Canadian in 1857 is mentioned here: http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/Arrivals/Canada1857a.htm (scroll down) owned by Messrs Allan & Co.(scroll to 19th June 1857) and their ship list here: http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/lines/allan.html
The 'Canadian Farmer' mentioned in the 1920s ships plans sailed on the Great Lakes : http://www.greatlakesmodeling.com/products/canadian_boat_plans.html and email to request a copy of the plan. But there is no Capt Sharp on the Great Lakes history site, or a mention of the Canadian Farmer there.... http://www.linkstothepast.com/marine/index.html
If you can find a shipping line, owner or home port this will help sort out where to look further.
