I'm looking for any Mackey's who have traced their family history. I have a William Mackey and Maggie Mackey in my tree at around 1900 (born in Ireland) living in Wales at the time.
Any Mackey's can help?

there are 4 instances of William Mackay on this site, it is free to do a search.

Do you have a place of birth from the 1901 census? ages would be on there too and any children listed would give u maggie's maiden name

I mean if you can get their birth certs.
I have had chance to find my book on irish genealogy now and so if you can give me more info i can let u have some ideas, it is an excellent book, Irish Genealogy, A Record Finder.

A particularly useful table I have is of Surnames in Ieland having five enries and upwards in the birth indexes of 1890, and the number registered in each province, for Mackay I have:

38 instances of mackay recorded in the whole of Ireland, and distribution by Province:

Leinster11;Munster 15; Ulster 10 and Connacht 2,

it gives some demographic insight there and obviously in 1890 there were more Mackay births registered in Munster Province than anywhere. (Counties Kerry/Cork Limerick Waterford)

There are various census substitutes surviving fr these counties but they are mainly for head of house in Muster Rolls and taxation records, but they can be useful even if only for elimination purposes.

Question Author

My Irish ancestors were born in Dunloy, Antrim in 1890ish named Charles John Henry. I need to find him. William Walsh born in Ireland also, around 1769. Elizabeth Ellen Cooke around 1776 and William and Margaret MackEy who werre born around 1850. Its only Charles that I know is from Dunloy. The rest are just known as somewhere in Ireland. Thanks for your help so far.
