Well, yes, obviously the entire population of Paisley will be prone to this particular identity trait, and racial and other stereotypes are all true. All Americans are stupid and all Germans are arrogant, for example. I'm sure you can think of many more.

Of course it is...it was two St. Mirren supporters fighting over a penny that invented copper wire...and a paisley screwdriver is a hammer as well did you know that...mind you if you think Paisley folk are bad you should see the folk round about Kilmarnock...they say i'd like you to meet my wife and sister and there's only one woman there! Scary stuff!

I think, like ravenhair, that this is an incredibly stereotyping question and such discrimination can be dangerous. However, being familiar with a number of buddies and Paisley in general, I would say that this is an example of an exception proving the rule. That is to say, this is a correct and well evidenced stereotype based on knowledge rather than ignorance! p.s. one Paisley person I know goes shopping with friends so she can get their "free" items when they get "buy one get one free" offers!

i have a friend who come's from paisley (stanley) and she wouldn't give you a nod in the street if she had 10 HEIDS and i have several people who will vouch for me!!!!!!!!!

What we can say for sure on the evidence so far is that stereotyping and humour do not go together. What a sad thread this is.
