Is it true that not only do Alton Towers fleece you for 30 to get in to the place, but also charge 4 to park your car now?!
They'll be charging you to catch the mon-rail from the car park next and to use the toilets (or do they?)
Talk about profiteering- I won't be going there...give me The American Adventure any day!

Park, so they can charge you for it. It is a profit-making concern, so you accept the fact that they make money.
NHS hospitals charging? What's all that about?
Yes its true and one of the reasons I refuse to go there again.
Such a rip off. I also think its unfair for an adult (such as myself) to have to pay to get in when I am just taking my son but I have to also bring my other children ( 3 & 5) who would be far to scared to go on anything.
there must be a way of proving you are only there to watch and not go on the rides. I could hardly leave my 2 younger ones stood on their own whilst I went on a ride, and anyway I can't stand those rides.
Rant over.

i went to alton towers last sunday! me an the wife plus my 2 kids under 4!! we had tickets to get the kids in free!!! it still cost me 60 for me and the wife!! plus the 4 car park!!......... at the end of the day i spent nearly 200..
it wasnt to bad a day tho!!
jules............i am sorry to disagree with you but drayton manor is the worst place i could ever go!! my reason's are a bit to political for the answerbank but i will never darken the doors of it again!! and its only 20 mins from my house!!
bloody hell, RB, you could have had a week in a caravan for that money! What a rip off. I went years and years ago with my friend, my Dad paid for 4 of us to get in and then we couldn't get on a single thing. I have never been back and thats gotta be 25 years ago. Never will either.
It is a few years since i last went to DM but it was always my favourite.I used to like the idea of the wristbands, much fairer but saying that, the last time we went, they'd changed it and it cost us a fair bit more and my lad hardly even went on anything. Bit of a waste of money really. in any case, i'm a bit too old for funfairs now!!! I've lost my bottle as i've got older!
jules........ i wasnt happy about spending that much!! i should of said i thought it was steep but it's worth every penny to see your kids laugh aint it!!
i took my 4yr old on the runaway train, he aint been on nothing that wild before and his face was worth 2 million if you know what i mean!!
sorry to highjack your thread kosbut how is your son today jules??? i hope he is getting better!!!
Charging for parking has been the norm in Florida for years. I am surprised it has taken Alton Towers so long to catch on !
At least in WD world and Universal theme parks they don't make you wait too long in queues and you have the gorgeous weather.
If you get the chance go to Discovery Cove .. It's quite pricey ($200 each) but they cater for you, you have a personal session swimming with the dolphins, lots of avairys , swimming in fish filled lakes and they set a limit on the number of people coming in in the park (you have to pre book) It's by far the best theme park i have been too and you get 7 days free admission to Seaworld afterwards (if you want it ).
We have a lot to learn still !
