Argh...
I hate that, my mother is like that.
Not only do I always have to figure out what she and my dad might like, I have to know what I want, also.

I think, if you cannot think of anything to buy me, don't buy me anything.
I will not hold it against you!

Maybe you can find a babysitter and have a nice day out!
Tell her you would like a lie in with a cuddle from the children. Your favourite lunch cooked with the children and your favourite dinner after they have gone to bed. Sounds like a perfect birthday to me!

ask for theme park tickets, (or something along these lines)

- that way you can all go and have a great day out with the people you love

There must be something you enjoy that your family can get you a related present. Is there a magazine (national geographic or a car magazine perhaps) that they can get you a yearly subscription of? Or a really nice wine or a case of beer or a CD or DVD or even just a bar of chocolate? I'm sure they will feel happier if they buy you a present even if it's a token one rather than something that costs a fortune.
When I retired from work I didn't want a gift so asked for a herd of goats from Oxfam for the third world. You can also get chickens or trees etc. I love to tell people what I got!
