Proof positive that Yanks can't spell.

Seriously, though, John, Happy Birthday. I spent 4 of the best years of my life in Ohio. I wish I was there now. I could not wish to meet a more welcoming fellow than a Yank. And that saddens me when I think of what some Americans have to put up with whan they come over here.

Happy Birthday America!

That re-enforces my request toi our beautiful AB Ed for a spellcheck facility
John

Sorry, I misinterpreted the point of your post.

Still, if you were sincere in your sentiment, I wholeheartedly agree.

Happy Birthday America!

nae probs shammy mate, I was sincere.
and once again, happy birthday USA
I recently read that the declaration of inependence wasnt actually signed on the 4th July.

But then again Jesus wasnt born on the 25th December.
Happy birthday anyway. I work with loads of americans so will be pretty quiet here. The ones that are coming in are throwing a huge bbq so I've not made a packed lunch.
Worked in America for just over a year, and got used to being asked very daft questions. Amongst our favourites was 'do you all celebrate the 4th of July in England?'
I have been asked that too, cambellking ~ as well as 'don't you have fireworks in England?' errr yes, on Guy Fawkes Night 'what's that?'

One couple I met were very surprised that we didn't celebrate Thanksgiving or Martin Luther Kings birthday either!

Happy 4th July to all our American chums..you bunch of rebels, you ;o) xx
Did you know that this song is copyright Time Warner, and you now owe them a massive royalty fee? See here
Ah, Diolch yn fawr!! Hey, I'm American, and moved to Cardiff last year! I miss the 4th of July celebration...with friends/family at barbques, fireworks & all that stuff! My son-in-law is Welsh, and did live in the States for about 2 1/2 years...so we all got used to each other's customs & have had a few laughs as well!!!
Yeah right ... now where's that big red button that says 'DESTROY'
p.s. ... how does a country that's only 229 years old pretend to know more about the world than everyone else ? ...huh? ... huh?
......whoah, easy there sphinx sven....if you're referring to me, you've made a grave error in your perception of me or of Americans...neither I nor Americans in general act like/pretend to/or say that they know more about the world than anyone else...As an American, I can/do say that..we're not perfect and don't pretend to be....but to be fair, neither are you or anyone else we know. Sure, you'll run across rogues anywhere you go..they're even over here, but I don't judge the whole nation against these lot..that wouldn't be fair. National pride is nothing to be ashamed of..the Brits are proud of their country, and well should be!
