Is it just a Midlands thing, or does anyone else find the readers' letters pages of their newspapers filled with the most mundane, banal annecdotes ever?

If it's not someone writing in to say "the other day, my grandson said the funniest thing....", it's to complain about the size of five pence pieces or praise what a good job the dustmen do.

In my local paper, the Leicester mercury, there is a name that comes up on an almost daily basis, on the letters page. I was reading a mag the other day, woman, i think, and there was this same person, with a pic this time!! It always makes me laugh thats she spends so much time writing in to the paper. Personally, i could never be bothered.

LOL - What did she look like?!
just a middle aged woman. i could name her because she seems to like the limelight, but i won't!!!! If you're from Leicester, and you buy the paper, you will know the name! bless her!

My best friend is from Leicester and suspects her name might begin with a 'Z' - he reckons there is a local artist with white hair who seems to write in constantly to anybody that would read it. Oh dear me..!
That's not the case here in Southport!! We have The Southport Visiter and its letters page is my favourite and my main reason for buying the paper in the first instance! There are many subjects for debate, all quite important to us "Sandgrounders," from the ridiculous pedestrianisation of Lord Street, through to the demolishing of listed buildings, the traffic wardens and their ticket happy attitude, the new disgusting looking tin toilets (against the backdrop of a beautiful victorian town) up to the non-jailing of a paedophile due to lack of prison space. One of the most important items being the removal of A & E in our hospital and the maternity facilities.
All these things are of great importance to us and it is good that we can have our say!!!
Dizzieblonde, He's got it!!!!!!,Z is her first name and her surname begins with F!!!!!!! I told you if anyone came from Leicester and read the paper, that they would know!!!!!!

LOL! Wet myself laughing when you got it! Just rang him to tell him and he's still roaring down the 'phone! That's her - apparently she does portraits of celebrities. Keep your eyes peeled, we both might be in tommorow's Mercury for mocking her! lol
lol lol lol arhhhhh bless her really, it just makes me smile whenever i see her name, (which is often!) It will make me laugh even more now every time shes written in!!!
I think they must be AB'ers with broken keyboards
OMG read this Dizzie!!!!!http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/People_and_Plac es/Question266603.html laugh, i nearly fell of my chair!!!!!!!!

Argh! LOL. My Leicestershire friend was going on about her again today and he actually met her in the flesh! Apparently he saw her giving some kind of presentation on art at a community centre, and assumed she must be really famous and talented considering the attitude she spoke to the students with, and then howled with laughter when he saw most of the work! *snigger*
