Mundane Regional Newspaper Readers' Letters
12 Answers
Is it just a Midlands thing, or does anyone else find the readers' letters pages of their newspapers filled with the most mundane, banal annecdotes ever?
If it's not someone writing in to say "the other day, my grandson said the funniest thing....", it's to complain about the size of five pence pieces or praise what a good job the dustmen do.

I was reading a mag the other day, woman, i think, and there was this same person, with a pic this time!! It always makes me laugh thats she spends so much time writing in to the paper. Personally, i could never be bothered.
That's not the case here in Southport!! We have The Southport Visiter and its letters page is my favourite and my main reason for buying the paper in the first instance! There are many subjects for debate, all quite important to us "Sandgrounders," from the ridiculous pedestrianisation of Lord Street, through to the demolishing of listed buildings, the traffic wardens and their ticket happy attitude, the new disgusting looking tin toilets (against the backdrop of a beautiful victorian town) up to the non-jailing of a paedophile due to lack of prison space. One of the most important items being the removal of A & E in our hospital and the maternity facilities.
All these things are of great importance to us and it is good that we can have our say!!!

Argh! LOL. My Leicestershire friend was going on about her again today and he actually met her in the flesh! Apparently he saw her giving some kind of presentation on art at a community centre, and assumed she must be really famous and talented considering the attitude she spoke to the students with, and then howled with laughter when he saw most of the work! *snigger*
