as you are coming from stoke to stafford on the A34 very near trentham gdns there is a statue high in the hill's, who/what is it?

I presumeyou mean the Trentham Monument - an obelisk and bronze statue erected in1836 to commemorate the 1st Duke of Sutherland.

It is easily seen from the A34 south of Trentham, overlooking Tіttensor.

Apparently the statue is stone not bronze.
