How rude....?!

Was waiting in a queue of about ten people in the newsagents today when a little old man struts to the front of the line waving a chocolate bar he wants to purchase. When the cashier said "You'll have to get in the queue", he just laughs and says "Noooo - you serve me first luv, I'll be waiting ages in that - they're all here to pay bills" (!). She sighed dishearteningly and served him, much to a lot of tutting and hushed comments, and he strolled off again saying "If you think I'm waiting in that, you can p*** off - Why should I have to wait...?!"

Has anyone else felt as close to smacking someone in the face in public...? Grr...

Brain Monkeys - right there with you, I work in one and OH MY GOD I must get every rude and insane person on this planet in my shop at some point or another.
Example:
I got one lady on year, zapped her cd through and announced the price (as you do) 'that's �7.99 please' her response 'I can bloody read' - so I piped down and held out my hand she gave me the money but only �6.99 so I waited and looked at her and she barked at me 'what' so I held my hand for her to see and politley announce that her cd was �7.99 but she could bloody read, she went a lovely scarlett shade and left the shop in silence - Rude mare she was.

Last year my husband and I were queueing at the tills at a service station, there were about fifteen people in the queue behind us and we were next to be served. This young lad strolls up with a can of pop and says can I jump in front of you as I have the right money, so guess what I said no, he huffed and puffed and said C'mon so I stood my ground and said that there was a big queue of people all waiting to pay and some who probably also had the right money, and that he should wait like everyone else. He huffed and puffed some more stomped back to the fridge to put his can back and shouted 'thats foul that is' and walked out. I had one or two smiles from others waiting in the queue, people should stand their ground a bit more and others should have some manners!

OOOh to be John Cleese at those times. sharp, cutting and witty. I'd love to see him in action with an awkward customer. If you ever get a chance to hear or see "the argument sketch" he did with Michael Palin don't pass it by it's brilliant.
I personally couldn't work with the public in a shop scenario, I'd lose it I'm afraid!
Mind I've always wanted to say to an old nasty bug**r who's pushing in " let them through after all they haven't got long left aaah!"

I work on a market stall and it really annoys me when someone thrusts some money at me when I am serving someone else. I always tell them, 'I'll be with you when I've served this person'. If someone is trying to push in and catch my eye I deliberately don't notice them.

I'm not mean all the time, if someone is taking a long time to get their money out I will turn and serve someone else who has their money ready, and often try to serve two at once by having the bags open and ready.
