biological father

i have being searching for my biological father and got a print out off the govement register ( i think thats what it is called) but when i checked his name there was about 20 of the same name around the region. does anyone know how i can narrow it down with contacting everyone, only its a delicate matter with my family and although i dont want nothing 2 do with him i just want 2 see what he looks like so i can leave him in the past....anyone got any ideas thanks........

Do you not know his age and date of birth? Or is it a copy of the birth index for his year of birth you have been given? Does it have names of places on the right of the persons name?

lets clarify what i mean. i want nothing to do with him because he used to beat my mum up and tried to kill me before i was born by punching her in the somach . thats whey i dont want nothing to do with him besides if i ever tracked him down i honestly dont konw what i would do to him. i couldnt care less if he or his family get hurt because he gave that right away when he battered my mother. i aint after happy families just want to know what he looks like. my mum didnt keep any pictures of him, niether did the rest of my family as according to them it was to painful. it just bothers me that i could walk past him in the street every day an not realise it was him. i hope that makes sense. i just need to know so i can move on..

Have you explained what you want to do to your mum? If she knows that it's just to lay ghosts to rest she may well help you out.

yes i spoke to my dad (step dad) and as soon as he told her she came running around to my house telling me i had to promise to her that i wouldnt look 4 him, to which i told her she had no right asking that of me and if she had kept at the very least a picture i wouldnt need to do this. she is affraid it will drag up the past and he would find out were she was. I dont really see this as going against my family even though after what she said that day made me feel that way. i just need closure.
