Does anybody know which places could be interested in used clothes and furniture (in good condition). I don't want money but would prefer them being used rather than sending them to the tip. Thanks for any help
Your local charity shop will be interested in the clothes.
As for the furniture, round here we have a place called Furniture Mine that collects your old furniture and redistributes it to people in need who haven't got any.
Try looking under 'Charities' in tyhe yellow pages, maybe there is something similar where you live.
Freecycle.co.uk recycles everything, no money is involved but you can advertise and take advantage of things in your area. They e-mail everyone on the list (optional) to keep them informed what is available. My stuff went same day!
The ordinary Oxfam and Cancer Research shops round here take smaller items of furniture (coffee tables etc). Try giving them a ring, if they don't take them I'm sure they could direct you to a shop that does
Freecycle has groups in most areas - go to the main site and then follow links to join your local group. You can also use it to ask for items that you need.
It is amazing what is useful to some people, but what you would consider junk.
You don't have to have people come to your house - you make all arrangements by email direct with the person who wants what you are offering or requesting -you could offer to deliver/collect or meet them somewhere.
