(There's a distinct New York accent too - something about the long-established cities of the East Coast, perhaps?) It is a Boston, USA, accent, from the wealthier end of the spectrum and is also tinted with a plummy English accent, from his lengthy time here in the UK. One interesting aspect of the Boston accent is that unlike the majority of the US, they pronounce a 'flat r' like southern Brits. The standard pronunciation in the rest of the US is more like the West Country burr... If you want really interesting accents then go way up into Maine.. there it's a real West Country, Irish, type mix.
