For a 3 day break in December? Opinions please, which has the best festive market? Which has the easiest transfer by train from the airport?

Would Stuttgart not be an option?

It's the biggest christmas market in Europe, and the train from the airport drives straigth to the main station, which is walking distance from the market.

Also you could see the market in Esslingen, too, which is my all-time ever favourite.
It's a lot smaller, but half of it is a medieval market.

Really wanted to go to Stuttgart but the only flights from Manchester don't get you there until gone 11pm so a bit impractical.
We usually fly to Frankfurt/Manchester and stay in Rudesheim From there you can easily get to Frankfurt or even Cologne.Rudesheim itself is a beautiful village wit a large market. Ther's a train station in the airport and ticket office with Direct trains to Frankfurt itself if you prefer. Lot's of shopping and a massive market. This site is pretty useful.

Don't know what the others are like but I love Berlin and the transport from the airport and around the city is wonderful.
Cologne every time, a brill Christmas market, a fab shopping street that goes on for ever, live music along the
river, boats all lit up and full of fun, also easy to get to by bus or taxi, ( never tried the train )
