Hammerfest, in Norway, is the world's northernmost town: latitude 70 degrees 40 minutes North - and makes the biggest fuss about it ;-)

Akureyri, in Iceland, qualifies as a city and is probably the most northern at 69 degrees and 39 North.

Reykjavik is the northernmost capital city (64 degrees North)
