Does anyone have any ideas regarding how I might be able to find out about a course that no-longer exists from a college that no longer exists? (It's a long shot I know, but you guys are my last hope!!!).

has the college now become a polytechnic/university or has it been demolished and literally doesn't exist? if now a poly/uni then surely their records office will be able to help you out.
alternatively have you tried any of the better search engines out there?

The problem is this... The college in question was called "South Mersey College" (qualification awarded in the 1960s), which was, in 1986, then (with 7 other colleges) merged into 4 colleges, the college in question being (I think) the "Riversdale College of Technology". Then in 1991 these 4 merged into the "City of Liverpool Community College". I've contacted them, and they don't know!! I was hoping that someone might know of some secret government record archive, but seriously doubt any such thing exists!!
you could try asking at friends reunited, they could out you in touch with people who were at the college then.
