If you're a man, you should smile politely and say "I am British, and therefore can only jog with someone I'm engaged to." and walk swiftly in the opposite direction.

andy, I did smile politely and she smiled captivatingly but my wife who was nearby didn't, nor did the girl's mother who was with her. Is it possible I misunderstood her?

Hey,tartanwiz, she could hardly manage much English. How do you think she'd handle Glaswegian? Even I can't understand it. I'm considering posting in the travel section to see if anyone knows of a travel company that does long weekends to Havana. One could come back with a definitive answer among other things! Stricly speaking, trilobite, "Otro tiempo" is not an outright refusal. The mother (if indeed it was) did look pretty formidable though. She didn't say a word but was obviously in charge. However I'll be going back. Havana and Vavcouver are my favourite cities. Magic atmospheres
