Deserted Welsh Village

Please help to answer a family arguement. About 25 years ago, as a boy, my father took to me to a deserted Welsh village. All I can remember of the place was we had to walk down a track to reach the empty buildings and there was a river running into the sea which (I think) split the village in two. My father claims the village was somewhere near Aberywstwyth whilst I think it was somewhere in North Wales. I would ideally like to know the name of the village and a grid reference if possible.

It could be Nant Gwrtheyrn Welsh Language School, near Trefor on the Llyn Peninsula. It was once a quarrying village and was renovated in the late '70s.

boognish 76,you could be right because the only time I've been to North Wales with the family we stayed in Nefyn. Do you know if there are alot deserted villages in Wales, just out of interest?

I live in Mid Wales and I seem to have the strange feeling that the place you're talking about is near a village called Abergynolwyn.

Silencium - Yes I am still interested, because my father claims we staying in St. Dogmaels at the time, not North Wales.
