which Uni should i go to

I'm not basing this question on the actual school, but rather the city they are in. either U of central lancaster in preston or U of lincoln(hull campus) in hull. Which city is better/best on things like social life, employment actual look etc.

It's the university of central lancashire in preston. Lancaster is a different place altogether! Anyway, I'm from Preston and went to the uni, and it's okay in terms of social life, but nothing compared to bigger cities like manchester where I live now. I've never been to Hull though...

Thanks, i didn't want to be stuck in a boring place second time in a row. as for a big city yeah sure it would be the best choice but i'm just moving to the uk, never really lived there for a serious amount of time so i plan to graduate up to a bigger place later in life.

I went to university in hull and would probably advise against it.Even thought i had a wicked time, three years spent there is a bit much, started to get a little bored of the place after a few years. The actual University of Hull where i went is cool cos its got quite a nice campus, but the one you're going to is separate from the main uni of hull campus. The nightlife is ok, it depends on what you like, If you like drum n bass, hip hop, bit of house like i do you can find some quite cool nights and they're usually laid back with quite a cool crowd. If you're more of a clubber in bigger nightclubs then its not the best place unless you like cheesy pop/dance music. But Leeds and Sheffield are about 45 minutes away for the bigger night out- approx �5 on the bus, approx �10-15 on the train. Also if you like your drinking there are many pubs. Cottingham Road on to Beverley Road by the university there are about 10/11 pubs and Hull is very cheap for booze. Property prices are also very cheap, so if you're living in a house (not in halls) it is very reasonable. The most i paid was �35 a week. The city centre is again OK, many bars and pubs. Nice bars down the Mariner. Its nowhere near as good as the bigger cities- Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham etc, but its not bad. There's a lot of development going on in Hull so in a few years it will be quite good.

I've just joined in so hopefully you now have your a'level results and might be going to a better uni than either of those two. But if not I spent 5 years at the poly in hull and loved it, it is very cheap and the locals and student mix is fantastic, you will have the best time anywhere you go as uni life is outstanding, wish i was still there avoiding office life

'ull (as it known to the locals) has got miles better in the last two years and may not have the 'superclub' style of nightlife but has many good events going on there, especially shinobi @ the welly club for those who prefer something with a no attitude vibe, other good student nights are realbeats and ko-rockinit @ adelphi. Don't believe everything you hear about hull
