Whatever happened to joey luft, judy garland's son?

I used to go to school with Joey Luft in Brentwood California in 1965. We went to Brentwood Elementary School (Public) We were great friends and I have always wondered what happened to him too! We sat next to each other in class and played together after school. He was one of the nicest people I havd ever met. I moved to Utah and never saw him again, but never forgot him.
