The Gherkin
5 Answers
Recently, while off the coast of north Barcelona, I saw a building in the city very similar in shape to the Gherkin (but without the lozenge shaped appearence). Was this also designed by Sir Norman Foster. If not which came first?

Thanks for your responses, but I don't think we've got the answer yet. It's some distance north of the city centre -- some miles. It bears a remarkable resemblance to the Gherkin but has square panels rather than diamond shapes, and without the helter-skelter appearance. I was travelling by ship to Barcelona Forum 2004, so it's between that site and the city. I think I know all the Gaudi sites and I'm sure it's not inspired by him, it's far too recent and geometric and unlike anything he has done. What I was interested in is whether this building inspired the Gherkin or vice versa.
