I live in Birmingham, Michigan, USA, just north of Detroit. We pronounce "Birmingham" differently over here, and we certainly speak differently! (I have two long-time Brummy pen-pals that I've visited while over there, and I have to really struggle to understand them!) I'm a huge Queen fan (the band, not Her Majesty) and have been to the UK 14 separate times for Queen-related activities (fan conventions, concerts, etc). But I always incorporated it into a vacation, so I travelled around and saw other places and things that were not Queen-related. My husband and I honeymooned in the Scottish Highlands - absolutely beautiful country up there, but someone should've told me in advance about the lack of gas (petrol) stations on the smaller roads, and about how they all close on Sundays anyway. Long story, but someday remind me to tell you about driving for hours with a bursting bladder, in search of a public restroom.
