Why do we pay rental on our land lines. Can we not buy it off BT. Is it the same scam where BT used to rent phones to old ladies for a fiver a month. By the way another scam that BT runs. As i hardly use my landline i asked for low usage rates. They said i qualified and then aksed me if i own a mobile phone. When i said yes they say i cannot then apply for low usage rates. WHY???. BT will lose there monoply this december on landlines.so it should become cheaper with another provider like one:tel.
Your line rental pays for your continued connection to the BT network but more importantly its maintenance i.e. Telephone Exchanges, Copper & Fibre optic cabling, Transmission systems, Engineers & Support Staff. A lot of this stuff has to be in place regardless if you your use your phone 1000 times a day or once a month.
