Are you and your place of work going to have 2 minues silence on the 11th? Is this mark of respect dying out? Do you think we'll always have a moment of remeberance for those that gave their lives fighting for this country?

I view this day less as a time to celebrate the actions of those brave British soldiers who fought in WW1, but to remember the terrible absurdity of this war, the tragic and senseless loss of so many lives - right across the world. This was supposedly the war to end all wars. During those two minutes of silence, we should take the time to consider the past and learn from it. Never again must we allow such an event to occur.

We did it, we marked the occasion with complete silence! Apart from the ringing of blinking phones, of course....didn't answer them though. Radio 1 marked it brilliantly.
We don't have a radio - what did radio 1 do? We were quiet and took phones off hooks too.
Yes I did.  In fact I specifically logged off my session on the computer in the library early in order to go and watch the ceremony outside.
I spent quite a bit of time pre 11o/clock trying to find out if anything had been arranged at work to no avail. So I took it upon myself to just put up signs saying we would be doing it, took the phones off the hooks and then just did it.I think it's important , and not dying out at all . The last man to die for this country did so on tuesday.
