i have a stupid friend that believes that Elvis is still alive, and her reasons are that, in his later life he started forgeting his song lyrics and that they spelt his name wrong on his graves stone. is there any truth in this, and what can i tell/show her to prove that he is dead?

You can't do anything to persuade her.  People like that are just too stupid to be persuaded by evidence or proof or reasoning.
Elvis's middle name is spelled "Aaron" on his tombstone; according to his official site, the name was spelled Aron at birth but as an adult Elvis planned to change the spelling to Aaron, and the tombstone was designed to reflect that wish.

As Bernardo says above, some people just won't listen to reason.  I came across another website on my travels which said that the pall-bearers claimed his coffin (casket) weighed over 900 pounds - and this was because it had an air-conditioning unit to keep the wax work model of a 'pretend dead' elvis from melting in the heat!!!!

There just aren't enough exclamation marks in the world.  Spurious crap.

I have a friend who believes 2pac is still alive and will return in 2006 - crazy fool   ; )

Ha ha ha ansteyg!  That's a good way of putting it.

Elvis died on my 30th birthday, 16 August 1977 & I was heartbroken, but mainly because I was no longer 29!

Long live the King - so to speak!

Your friend is right. Elvis appears on Steve Wrights show in the afternoon on R2 to answer questions - see http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/wright/elvis.shtml
Yes & it's brilliant Pino.

Elvis started forgetting his lyrics because he was a washed-up, drugged-up, old has-been (in his latter years)

As for spelling his name "wrong" (nicely explained Octavius) ok, even if it was spelt wrong? How is that meant to be a clue that he's not really dead?

Why do conspiracists seize on absolutely any insignificant detail and pretend it's a 'hidden message' - (usually with retrospect) conveniently selecting those bits of trivia that 'fit in' with the theory. If not, they'll make it up anyway, along the lines of;

"There were 2,005 mourners invited to his funeral, this was a secret message to his loyal fans that he wasn't dead and would return in the year 2005"

It's all such utter b******s.

Thanks for trying to put your stupid friend right, though, seal !!

God, you people are thick - the King, dead - pttthtp!

Look - Elvis is an anagram of 'lives' - therefore he's not dead. Can't you accept the evidence when it's starring you in the face?
