A Finnish thank you pressie

I am going skiing for the weekend in France, however, we are staying the first night at a friends friend's place. I would like to take a suitable thank you pressie for them - they are Finnish, any novel ideas?  I thought of Snapps, but not sure if you can buys Finnish snapps here in england.

Personally if I had Finnish friends staying with me, I'd rather a finnish thank you present than a twee english one.  Get them summink good and british!

I agree with Octavius...what about something British?  I don't want to generalise about all Scandanavian countries, it may not apply to the Finnish, but Norwegian Uni mates of ours used to take Whisky back home with them from Scotland.  Apparently it's very expensive over there, and all their friends and relatives kept asking them to bring more home.  One guy's dad was a whisky expert by the time his son graduated! You could go for a nice Islay malt...perhaps Bowmore?  On a cold night, in front of a big warm fire, you just can't beat a wee dram.

I know what you guys mean - I went out with a Dane once and his relatives ransacked the supermarkets for things like that.  It just that as he's living in France whisky etc will be fairly commonplace, just wanted something that showed a bit of thought!!  I do agree tho, my choice will be either something Finnish or something quintessentially english.  Appreciate your thoughts and suggestions....

The Finns tend to be partial to Koskenkorva Vodka (a Finnish Vodka) but I agree with everyone else here that they would probably appreciate something British. How about something from the region in UK you come from?

Something traditional is definitely a good bet - I always think sweets/biscuits/cakes unique-ish to Britain (or to your area - even better) are a nice idea. Mugs and t-shirts are good, especially if you can find something relevant to the person/people you're staying with. Good luck, and have a great holiday!

How about the Little Britain Series 1 DVD, so they can understand 'Who are Britain?' and 'What do they do?' !
