I had a CCJ and cleared it a year and a half ago. When applying for a loan, do I still need to declare it?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.No, you don't need to (although I guess you should if they ask!). They will automatically do a credit check with Experian or Equifax. This shows all your CCJ's and unpaid debts for the past 6 years, also any enquiries you have made. It will list any creditors and a record of how the payments back to them went, and if you fell behind.
It may or may not go against you - I am guessing here you haven't had anything else bad, but at the end of the day, it's up to the creditors.
One thing you can do is apply to the Court for a Certificate of Satisfaction. It doesn't cost anything, and often there's no piece of paper to show off.
Maybe to give you some piece of mind you can apply to Experian and Equifax for your credit records. They both charge just 2 and reply pretty quick. I know they have websites that are easy to find though.
Sounds like you should be okay though!
