If I am wealthy, and I have worked hard to get that way, am I obligated to reach down and pick up the average people and support the poor who dont want a better life?

Are you assuming that because *they* are poor,that they do not want a better life? I think the rich should give to help those less fortunate-otherwise they are seen to be uncaring and aloof from the real world.

Well I'm guessing their are plenty of people who are not well off financially....but are content in their lives. Money doesn't make the world go round for everyone....

I'm pretty average and don't need anyone to reach down and pick me up thank you very much, and so you can feel less obligated, it must be a burden to you, not understanding simple acts of good will and compassion.

it is a hypothetcail question actually, im probably inbetween average or poor at the moment, just interested in peoples opinions, and i probably used the wrong words in reach down, though i consider alot of "rich" people or at least financially secure people to be a bit above me in on way another
