Hiya everyone..thanks in advance for your help. I saw this really cute girl on facebook and sent her a friend request which she accepted. I now want to break the ice by sending her a nice first message(would really like to go out with her)..she lives in my area and we both go to the same university. Anyone with some good ideas?? please help..thanks again :)

I don't like this idea, I wouldn't accept as a friend on FB anyone that I didn't actually know.
Boxy - For some facebook is just a dating site...
be yourself, say how are you, find out her interests but dont be to pushy as she may think youre a stalker.
but if you've never met her, how do you know what she looks like, as people can look a lot different in real life .
Maybe she has lot's of pictures on facebook.
yeah, i know, but there has been a study and sometimes, especially girls, look nothing like they do on FB depending on the angles of the pics they take and all that

Can't you ask amongst the other students, so you can actually get a look at her before you contact her? FB pictures can be misleading, people can post any pic, it doesn't have to be a good likeness.

This obsession with pictures sounds a bit superficial, there may be a brain lurking somewhere in the background.
at least meet her before asking her out.
