What do you usually do if you find money? I'm not talking a wallet or purse but amounts like 5 or 10 pounds. Do you just put it in your pocket, give it to charity, spend it on something out of the ordinary or something else?

OH followed a car, the woman had put her purse on top of her car , he picked it up chased after her and gave it back to her. She thanked the anonymous driver in the local paper
My son found three pound notes in a telephone box when he was about 11 years old, we took it to the police station to teach him to be honest, but as it wasn't claimed he got it back after a month. but I have found a tenner and kept it as it was in the road soaking wet,.

bundleone, you hypocrite.
If it was a fifty pound note it was mine
My son found £20 at the school. I said he had to hand it in in case it was someone last £20. They gave it back to him after a week as no one had claimed it. He gave £10 to charity.

I found £5 the other day. I kept it. It was in the middle of the road.

I found a couple of gramms of coke at a bus stop once.

We won't ask how you determined it was 'coke' . . . ;o)

Would coke not be measured in millilitres?
Anything in a wallet would be handed into the police. Notes and coins I have kept in the past. No point taking £20 to the police station,. Who honestly would go to the police to say 'I had £20 in my purse earlier and it isn't there now'.

If it were a wad of cash, ie lots of £20 tagged together, it is best to hand it in. 1. because it could be fake 2. it could have been stolen from a bank robbery and the numbers on them will mean they are being tracked and you can expect a police van pulling up at 7am outside your house.

I found a wallet before it had £2000 in it complete with gold credit cards. Returned it and the guy gave me £100. Split it between my ex wife and I and we had a good night out.
All the loose change I find in the street goes into our charity pot which also takes all the copper and 5p's we get in our change. Usually adds up to around £25 a year
An honest person would hand it in to police...it is then registered with them and they wait a month to see if anyone claims it...the claimant having to specify where and when they lost it...and to describe it...money or goods.
At the end of the month, if not claimed, it is then deemed yours...
and you get to keep it...legally...no callbacks can be made.
I do the same with derelict dinghies found abandoned along the river...found six in one year, patched them up and onsold them...for about $200 each...the cops hate them because they have to store them for the set month...uses up all their storage space...so honesty is the best policy...
