Why are women still judged by what they wear ?

no, it isnt ... i too hate the double standards and judgements just because a woman decides to show a bit of leg etc

which is why this image is interesting ... it points out how simplistic the mindset of anyone who thinks like this is.... as though there is a set of specific rules for how to live, and a set of labels that are dished out because of something so shallow as a hemline.


sadly many on the site who saw the image leapt straight in and had a go at her (some even thought she was a man!) believing she had created this image as a way to have a go at women who she perceived as slags ...
i suppose thats always going to happen with the kneejerk brigade...

I suspect we all judge people - men and women - by the way they dress - whether we think we do or not.

I think people should be allowed to wear whatever they like be it being a nudist to wearing a burkha.
I don't judge a woman on the length of her skirt other than to think it looks good or it looks terrible, and in either event it's her choice and I really do hate the notion that if a woman chooses to look sexy and attractive they are in some way demeaning themselves and / or their sex. Likewise I don't think women ought to be pressurised into being clothes horses who never feel they can dress down because of what people might think. If we all calmed down a bit and minded our own business about what other people do without spouting off opinions in the press/pub/workplace/home so much I think everyone would be more relaxed about it.
Any length is fine, a short skirt does not make a *** and a long one certainly doesn't make a virgin.

Being 'allowed' isn't the issue. This is about the potetial messages people give to others by the clothes they wear.

Its a clever piece, an aptly demonstrates the point she was trying to make - that women are often pre-judged, stereotyped, by what they wear.

The issue - that of prejudging someone by the clothes they wear -apply to all. but for women the judgement often comes weighted with all sorts of preconceptions about their sexuality, which is not something that men need to concern themselves about, generally speaking. And it is prejudging sexual attitudes or availablility that would be considered offensive.

For our own personal interactions, we should attempt to avoid such preconceptions if we can, although prudence might dictate some caution when deciding how closely you want to get to a gang wearing say hoodies :)

Length of skirt a woman chooses to wear is entirely down to them, but there should be come consideration of practicality and aesthetics - Not everyone has a body shape that would look good in short skirts :)
