Auroville

Ì have an idea to buy some land in France with other people and start making something like Auroville in India. I have had a recent good idea on how to generate money for land taxes and externally bought food. People who want to live there would have to pay an initial lump sum of 30k. For that they will own a very small living quarters and have to take up a job within the community. Selection of people who live there will be very strict initially as will need the correct people to set the foundans. How popular would you say this would be?

Having to pay £30,000 up front seems to contradict the ethos of such a place.
It seems you just want a money making scheme. Auroville had the backing of UNESCO in order to get up and running-and it seems to have taken a good few years to do so.

This is what it says about salaries on the Auroville site
'Salaries - Aurovilians are not permitted to earn a salary by Indian Govt regulations. Instead most receive a "maintenance" from the unit or service they work for, sufficient to meet their most basic needs. Many Aurovilians take no remuneration at all from the community, maintaining themselves entirely out of their own funds as a contribution towards the township, though they still contribute monthly to the Central Fund.'
So-where do 'residents' make money then? It seems they need to be financially independent before they join...or they need to not care about money, full stop,as the community will care for their basic needs.
