i have block paved my front driveway so has my neighbour and drivers think its perfectly fine to turn around on my drive now when it was grassed they wudnt dream of driving up on it to turn around so why do they think its ok to turn on it cos its paved , i wud never dream of turning my car around on someones drive i think its very bad manners and cheeky it realy annoys me when ppl do it i stand in my window and glare at them lol i wish i had a button that i cud press and spikes would pop up and burst their tyres does anyone else get annoyed by this by the way theres a rd next to my house that they cud use !
omg i cant stop laughing at some of your comments its cheered me up no end infact when someone turned round on my drive i waved to them cos you all left me feeling happy lol. now in answer to the ones that really wanna know why they turn round well sometimes its ppl going to visit ppl and they turn round to go the way they wanna go theres a way off my estate at top of hill and bottom like i said its pure laziness to bother to go to the next rd and tiurn, eg yesterday a car that looked suspiciously like an unmarked police car with two coppers not in uniform did it , you can tell a copper anywhere ! i love the idea of a klaxon and the stinger idea really made me laff yes can see it now i run out throw the stinger and run back in again lol modeller i did at least put spaces between the words !! cheers guys you made my day
I have a shingle drive and had the same problem. I didn't mind people using it to turn but when they turned out again they usually take off to fast and spray the shingle. This makes me mad! We now have a galvanised chain from the fence to the other side of the drove; easy to undo/do up. We even have one aluminium support pole in the middle that is permanently attached to the chain with our house number on it. It looks real good.
I find it odd that you should think it bad manners for people to use your drive yet perfectly polite for you to expect other people to supply the punctuation you can't be bothered to supply yourself, expecting them to put in the work to understand you. Pots and kettles come to mind.
chakka35 theres always one person in every post that is a miserable sod and you get the trophy its perfectly easy to read my post without the punctuation as i said earlier im not writing a letter , we were all having a laugh up until you stuck your answer on no one on here takes things seriously its all in good fun and we all try to help with an answer if it offended you that much why bother to answer me
Not using punctuation and driving in someone's house are hardly comparable. I'm not a fan of people not using punctuation but it was tezmand's choice to write like that, and mine to read it anyway.
do they actually drive right up onto it and turn in full on your drive?
or are we talking about people doing a 3 point turn in the road, doing it in front of your drive, so as to use the dropped kerb and be sure they dont hit a wall, who occasionally come a bit far up - a foot or 2 - onto the edge of your drive?
Tez, your name just popped up in latest posts and it made me think about you and your drive! lol
Have you found a solution, or are the cars still using it to turn around on?
Not sure if any of the links show this, but you want one of those poles they have in the road, that a sensor on the front of your car will make it pop down when you (and only you) drive up to it. They've got one near us, the taxis and ambulances can use the narrow road but nobody else.
We have a very large drive which is block paved and people are forever 'parking' their cars on it whilst they go to the local shop or to the pub across the road. We do have signs saying 'no parking' and 'private property' and it doesn't make a blind bit of difference. In fact last week one bloke told me that there was no need for me to get shirty about him parking on my drive, felt like following him to where he lives then driving last every now and again until his drive was empty, parking my car there and leaving it for a few days.
