A Question For The Ladies

I hate being called "madam". Mostly this happens at restaurants by waiters, and it makes me cringe. I just wondered if I am alone in this, or if most us felt the same about it.

I don't need to be called anything. I like people asking things politely, I just prefer them not to stick "Madam" on the end.

I think it depends where and who you are. Someone once laughed at me for asking directions of someone by saying 'Excuse me Sir, but do you know where...' they couldn't understand the Sir part of it, but I thought it was just good manners. I'd expect a waiter to call me 'Miss' tbh, I think it's rude to drop a salutation.

It would probably make me feel like an old lady but I can't say it would bother me.

What I do detest is blokes, particularly blokes I don't know calling me 'hun'. It's so.....girly. Men shouldn't use the word hun.

How is the waiter supposed to refer to you? It's unlikely they will know your name so how will you know he's addressing you and not 'sir'. It doesn't bother me, you can get called worse things.
