I hate being called "madam". Mostly this happens at restaurants by waiters, and it makes me cringe. I just wondered if I am alone in this, or if most us felt the same about it.
Thanks for answering everyone. Lol to Mazie, it doesn't make me feel like a brothel keeper, it makes me feel like someone is being creepy and crawly to me (I can't think of the right word at the moment)
I think it depends where and who you are. Someone once laughed at me for asking directions of someone by saying 'Excuse me Sir, but do you know where...' they couldn't understand the Sir part of it, but I thought it was just good manners. I'd expect a waiter to call me 'Miss' tbh, I think it's rude to drop a salutation.
How is the waiter supposed to refer to you? It's unlikely they will know your name so how will you know he's addressing you and not 'sir'. It doesn't bother me, you can get called worse things.
