Wedding Favours - Charity Donations - And Badges
27 Answers
I went to a wedding recently and on the tables there were cards with a message from the couple that said instead of favours they have donated to charity on our behalf and one of the little charity badges stuck through it.
i thought this was a lovely idea - i have always thought wedding favours to be a pointless expense - (even though I always have whatever it is, haha)
but this way the money is spent on something worthy and people still get a little badge - instead of a few sweets or a tiny bottle of bubbles or something.
is this a common thing? i have never seen it before. I assume the charity themselves have provided the badges and cards and they couple get them printed on perhaps?
anyone else done this?

It's a nice idea. I've also heard of people (usually people who already had their own houses so didn't need any more towels or saucepans) who asked for donations to a named charity instead of gifts. I like that idea too.
tinkerbell - brilliant!
just one negative thing i noticed was that many people didn't seem to realise they were meant for people to take away, they left them on the tables - and twice when i put some in my bag (i took a couple extra for my niece) i was given a funny look and at one point actually told off for taking them - they seemed to think they were just for display, or just for info or something ...
so maybe if you print them yourselves, (the message was personalised on these) make sure it says to please take them - or put them in a bowl or something with the message on that.
they are a nice memento because they have the date and the couples name etc on.
although i'm sure plenty of people probably just didn't actually want one, it was clear some misunderstood - at the end the couple were left with loads of them - and one had a cute little elephant on it and another a pink shiny heart - which i am sure kids would have loved, but they weren't given them.
leftovers can be sent back to the charity to reuse of course.
