In a way, surprisingly i agree with you OP benzaneez. I am a muslim, but i find it pathetic how people like Abu Hamza and Anjem Chaduary can go around giving a bad name for muslims and still not get arrested. I mean, they even get places on channels like channel 4 to express their views. Why? he is a radical muslim. You know that he is going to be controversial. Yet they still allow him on.
I blame the media.
Of course, on the other side of the argument, think of al the muslims who are not radical and who do want to live in peace with other ethnicities. Yet this always gets overlooked.
Syria. They want it for oil but mainly strategic position, so it does not affect Israel in the region and does not become too powerful. And maybe even because their an ally or Russia?

in total, the rise of Islam in the west, yes, may come from migration,. but you cannot deny the fact that many people are converting, whether it is due to marriage or not, people are converting. If there really is a problem with islam and muslims, which i do not believe, than stop people converting, rather than just criticize islam.
Have you not realised that after 9/11, the more negativity you hear about Islam, the more people seem to be researching it and converting?

Lightbulb, you conveniently ignore the vast numbers actually leaving Islam – 6 million a year in Africa alone.
Here are some of the others. Have a read.

The horror of 9/11 does nothing to attract anything other than a sick mind and Islam’s rise in the west is the result of immigration. Some westerners convert mainly through marriage, but according to statistics 75% of converts in the USA abandon Islam within the first few years.
//Half of what the bad muslims do is not in the quran//
And the other half is. Stop dreaming. Islam is its own worst enemy.

...but why out of the 30,000 muslim residents of Luton can the 100 extremists not be suppressed and modified by the majority, who claimed not to speak to them?"
I can give you one reason (Jom may want to give his). Khandro. I mentioned it on a different thread: la trahison des clercs. I specifically mentioned two egregious examples, Shirley and Rowan Williams. Here is the philistine who sapped the foundations of English education at her odious best on Question Time (answering a question about the knighthood of Salman Rushdie): “I think at very best the timing is poor….Here is the man who has offended the susceptibilities of millions of Muslims world-wide…”. What a vile and insulting conflation that the attitudes and sensibilities of a few ignorant and vindictive people who want to murder novelists are representative of normal Muslims. Those of you who haven’t seen it check it out on Youtube and see her savaged by Christopher Hitchens (RIP). On the same show there’s a brilliant vignette by Boris Johnson answering the same question: “I am against the knighthood on purely literary grounds… slow and impenetrable… Dick Francis .. far superior in characterization, pace and plot…”.

v_e; The wrong doings of Shirley Williams be they as they may, are not to the point. What I am pondering is, as highlighted in Stacey Dooley's docu. As it is completely impossible for an intelligent even-handed young woman to speak in moderation to the 100 strong minority of radicalised Muslims without being verbally abused, the only people who might be able to try to call for moderation from them could be from among the 30,000 good Muslims of Luton, however it appears from the film that they have no contact with them, nor do they wish any. So who is to attempt the de-radicalisation of this group spouting hatred of Britain (nurturing them) the police (protecting them) and even democracy (allowing them to do so)itself?
