Happy Mother's Day
9 Answers
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the AB mothers a very Happy Mother's Day. I hope you all get what you wish for - free flying lessons and bungee jumps, etc, but no hoovers and kettles:-) My own dear mother passed away on 12 Mar 2012 and i will be spending a little reflective time graveside later, today, armed with an inadequate bunch of flowers.

My mum (and Andrew1707's mother) died in January 1996 at the age of 58. It takes a long time to get past the stage where you are about to tell them some little bit of gossip or news ~ and then you remember that they are not there.
It is now the tenth year since our father died ~ where does the time go.
I am 'mum' to two felines - I don't expect that I will get a present.

Elvis; my mother liked a bet - placepots mainly - and actually had a Cheltenham placepot up in 2011 which paid £5,750! True to form, she passed away on Gold Cup day 2012. That same afternoon, a horse ran on the all weather called My New Angel. I backed it and it lost. It came out again 4 days later and won at 16's - and i didn't even see it. Such is life.........................
Elvis; i must have totally confused you this morning. As i was stood graveside, i realised that i had posted my mother's passing as the wrong date and i should have realised when you said 'eve of Cheltenham'. She actually passed away on the 16th March 2010, which was, of course, Gold Cup Day. My defense is that it was quite late/early and i had just checked the lotto numbers to see if my 3-12-16 hotpicks had been drawn:-)
And, compared to some of the garage forecourt flowers on display, mine did not look at all inadequate.
