I doubt there is a single attitude as we are all individuals. But IMO as for all mythical creatures, whilst the possibility of finding a previously unrecorded species is not impossible, it is unlikely / does not seem imminent anytime soon, for your Bigfoot legend.

I wouldn't want to try and speak for everyone here in the UK but I'm still to be convinced that it exists.
Bigfoot could only exist in the US.

i have yeti to be convinced too

As jj says, Bigfoot could only exist in the US but there are other sightings worldwide under different names.

personally I believe it as much as I do in the flying pig which just went past the window.
you know what they say about bigfoot?

big shoe/boot
Any sample of the attitude of the UK to the existence of Bigfoot will find that the population can be split into five major groups, who believe that...

1) It definitely exists.
2) It may exist.
3) Don't know either way.
4) It probably doesn't exist.
5) It definitely doesn't exist.
heathfield ... ssshh, don't tell any Americans ... it would be like telling them that Mom put the dollar under their pillow.

When Americans tell us they spotted Bigfoot, Brits just have to say " I know you did".
I think Brits are too busy believing in the Loch Ness Monster to have time for Sasquatch. Plus there are these panthers roaming the wilds of Essex.
Is he Richard Osman?
//I think Brits are too busy believing in the Loch Ness Monster ... //

Corrects typo. Now reads:

I think a few mad old Scottish people are too busy believing in the Loch Ness Monster ...
This reminds me of the little known fact that Aliens do not abduct more Americans than any other nationality; it's just that the Aliens return the Americans giving them the opportunity to recount their experience.
.....am so glad I came back on here :D

I can't make up my mind. I am in the UK and my research into old newspaper stories suggests that we are more interested in the Yeti, or at least our media is. Back in the fifties the Yeti was seen as this big adventure and completely possible. Nowadays there's more focus on the American 'Bigfoot', and the tone is normally one of derision. I need to look into all the info a lot more before making my mind up. I can't see that it's totally impossible, nor so laughable to be honest.
If there is such a thing has Bigfoot why haven't the Americans managed to capture one yet.
The thing that always baffles me with these beasts is their breeding habits.

They may well be terribly shy and rarely spotted but why are the photos always of just one? You never see a picture capturing a family group, they are always solitary and adult.

Perhaps I'm just being cynical.
No one has found Lord Lucan yet, so how the hell do you expect us to have a view on Bigfoot?
