If someone has social anxiety then I would have thought going on a first date would be a pretty horrendous situation to put themselves in. With shyness, once you start talking to people you generally come out of your shell, whereas if you're socially anxious then, chances are, you'll spend that entire time feeling... well... anxious. Agnes, is this about the boy who you were asking about in your other thread?

It's very difficult to spot people who are socially anxious. Some will be withdrawn (or not socialise at all), others cover it with a mask of enforced gaiety and try to overcome it that way.

It doesn't follow that they have low self-esteem - some people who find difficulty in communicating face to face are highly intelligent professional people who know they are good at their job, they feel however inadequate in social and personal situations. You can't change it without knowing what made them like that in the first place, amateur analysis is a risky thing.

I still reckon this bloke has been put off by you keeping on contacting him - he sounds shy but if he really wanted to go out with you, he'd manage it. After all this time, he doesn't - you'd have known by now.
leave the poor bloke alone for heavens sake

With regards to the "will they always be silent", no one could really answer that but the person themselves.
Anxiety, social or not, affects everyone differently.

If this person does indeed suffer with social anxiety then I wouldn't push it, or keep on at them to "go on a date".
You'd only be making them feel ten times worse.

What do you mean, it killed you?
Oh.

That was a waste of time then....
I thought you thought he was gay??
Nicely put though baby-sham
Agnes, you have to leave this alone - this is beginning to sound like an obsession you have with this guy. Move on.

So he is shy type of guys, insecure and unexperienced. I said that i like him and after time he also said that likes me (we are yet not in intimate relations). He really likes me i know it.
All the time i must to start texting. And one time i decided not to text him and it took about 3-4 months. so he also did nothing. But when i texted he seem to like it.
So i want to ask, is it normal for a guy who likes the girl not to contact her, just to ask how is going... i mean its so simple..
I just can't believe there can be such shy and insecure guys. Do you know such guys?
Moreover he afraids to hang out and ask me out.
I really do care about him, so how to encourage him if i cant meet him face to face?
