Butcher's Compliments

I've heard on LBC that a 25 year old rang a butchers to order some meat and the assistant said that she had a sexy voice. She immediately took offence, complained to the butchers and said that this remark was sexist and made her feel uncomfortable etc., etc.

I think this is totally over the top, she needs to lighten up, get a life and learn how to accept compliments. If someone had said this to me, I would be delighted. What do others think?

I would not have appreciated such a comment from a stranger, particularly, as has been said already , a stranger who knows, or could find out, where I live. I wouldn't have complained to the butcher but would have made that quite clear to the man on the phone.

This world becomes more colourless every day, if the assistant had used the ubiquitous bland word "nice" then that would have been accepted as a compliment. When I was growing up my Mother told me "accept all insults as compliments", now it appears the reverse is true.

Depends who says it and how it`s said. I had guy in the taxi office say that to me when I out with a friend and called for a cab home. We thought it was quite funny as the guy was quite young and I was never going to meet him. If it was someone who said it in a creepy way I would probably just ignore it.

I remember, very fondly, an episode of "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue'" a year or two ago, when Jack Dee told us that Samantha was going on a picnic with her new gentleman friend.

She popped into the butchers to get some cold meat for sandwiches, confident in the fact that she would feel better later on, with a bit of the butchers tongue inside her !

God...I love that program !

Thank you all for your answers. The butcher may not have known where she lived, as she was collecting the order. it was apparently said as a bit of banter, which she obviously couldn't take!
