I saw myself as Sonny Crockett from Miami Vice, and wore lots of pastel colours for my linen or cotton trousers, t-shirts, and blazer style jackets, and loafers or canvas shoes........right to$$er I looked, but for the time period, I was looking sharp, I tell ya...lol
The 80's have a lot to answer for, but it was THE decade of fun :-)

Why the 80's was better than the 90's part 4.........
Other great South London night clubs churning out cool dance tunes included The Bon Bonne in Herne Hill, Cinatras in West Croydon, Scamps in Sutton and Croydon, The Blue Orchid in Croydon again, Cinderella Rockerfellas in Purley, and the best club in South London, The Cats Whiskers in Streatham........all great memories whether I was playing there or just enjoying a night out or both.....that to me was the charm of the 80 s.
Trivia: A place I used to frequent at least once a week gigging or on a night out was The Cats Whiskers in Streatham and was said to be haunted by the last woman to be hanged in the UK......Ruth Ellis......Staff, DJ's,Band members etc felt a presence upstairs on the balcony and staicase leading to the bandroom...some saw a figure in the gloomy light too....spooky eh, I just noticed a strong smell of perfume in areas where there was knowone about.. Guest artists such as Shakatak, Tina Charles, Edwin Starr, Thelma Houston, Chaka Khan and loads more played there in the 80's.
It was used as a nightclub scene in Brad Pitts film Snatch and had him fighting in a ring....they also filmed at Tooting bec common, which was the gypsy camp. It was called Caesars night club then

The best ever British sitcom, imo, Only Fools And Horses started in this decade, The Live Aid event was probably one of THE best concerts I have ever been too, Indiana Jones had three films in the cinema....all great, and soul and funk music was at its best and never sounded better.
I've decided......The 80's win....:-)
