I see yet another report has emerged claiming that social media like Facebook is a threat to normal relationships.

While I can see the concern, I'm not sure that it's not outweighed by the interest that social media adds to some people's lives. I suppose it really boils down to a case of use and abuse of tools.

Anything can be a threat to a relationship, but only if you let it.

I would suggest that abnormal use of social media is a symptom of a relationship problem, rather than the problem itself.

I'm sure there are lots of tools abused on FB!

Norms change continually Canary: movies, TV , dating sites, decline of religion, increase/decrease in standard of living personal transportation, increasing sexualisation of society, all these can affect many 'normal relationships', especially an obsession with any of these.
Well if one spends too much time on AB, that could damage a relationship!
Hi Canary
I think any pursuit done in isolation whether it be on a keyboard or tablet tends to destroy relationships, not just family relationships but those in general. We'll all soon lose the skill of conversation, interaction and the pleasure of eyeball to eyeball interaction.
