Just watching the news in the US and the newsreader has ash on her forehead - I thought it was a melanoma at first. I would give up wine for lent but I'm going on holiday soon so that's not going to happen. I might try to give up reminiscing about the past and lamenting the loss of people who have died.
Well, I don't have ash on my forehead (I could have gone, but had a meal to cook - it doesn't make a lot of difference really.) Some of you seem to have had really bad experiences of church. This runs contrary to my upbringing and experiences. I posted earlier that I gave up worrying about the state of the world for Lent.
The religion (and church)I know today is obviously very different to what appertained in the early 50's. Not saying that my hackles don't go up at what I think is proscriptive (just been asked to sit in on a PCC meeting - as a moderniser- with a view to joining; may join as most minds seem to be set like mine, sort of liberal and inclusive, hmmmm.)
