Female Name Lalaine - Spelling To Emphasise Pronounciation?

Good evening all,

I've always liked the female name Lalaine. The pronounciation I've heard most often and appreciate the most is: la-lane-ee

My concern would be that it may be pronounced lal-ain.

Is there a particular way it can be written to emphasise the lah-lane-ee pronounciation?

Suggestions I have seen:
LaLaine
Lalainë
LaLainë

Would any of these be gramatically correct and actually work? Any other alternatives that may work better?

Whatever you try it will be largely ignored because we don't do accents in Britain. Putting accents in will just make it difficult when filling-in forms electronically and it'll probably end up being shortened to "Lally" anyway.

Is this for a child? In which case what ever you call her, she, and her little pals will ignore it and choose their own options including ‘smelly’ and ‘poo pants” As she gets older she will decide on her own pronunciation and may not even use the name. If you are wanting to change your own name then whatever it is, you will be continually spelling and pronouncing it to other people, however you spell it.

Doesn't quite work, Bookbinder, as it would sound la-ayn-ay. A better idea might be to try la-layn-ie. Whilst on this subject, is the Duke of York's daughter called you-jayn-ie or you-jeann-ie? I never can tell.

LaLaini would probably be best as an I at the end is generally pronounced ee rather than eye.

I've spent my entire life spelling my surname and it makes me cringe when people name their child with an unusual spelling of a common name "to be different", as I know they'll have a lifetime of mis-spelling to face.

If you choose to give a child an unusual name you have to accept that some will struggle with, what you consider to be, the correct pronunciation.

As someone with an unusual name I would never, ever, saddle a child of mine with such a name.

My real name is Michael. It horrifies me to read of people who have been named Micheal. Apart from being ugly and common, it is etymologically incorrect, as anyone who took the time to discover the origins of names would soon find out.

So Lalaini is looking like the best option? It is potentially for a child.

I have a difficult surname, but I have never been that bothered by having to spell it as I've found it more of an ice breaker.

Seeing that this could be thought to derive from "lana" (Latin) or "laine" ( french,) the name would suggest "woolly". Not a derivation I'd welcome. My own name derives from " courageous", which is fine by me - but I'm glad I'm not "woolly".
