I'm working on an essay for school about the amount of things people have and if and why we (think) need them.
Please add your age and the country you live in for me to get an idea how the answers differ from person to person.

Ive had times in my life where ive literally had nothing and in some ways it was strangely liberating. I now sometimes feel as though I'm drowning in possessions even though I don't actually own that much and I'm forever 'clearing out'.
If I had to live the rest of my life out of a suitcase then a few clothes, toiletries, books and personal paperwork would suffice.
(and half a million in used notes...)

One bachelor (English) in Shanghai in the communist exodus of the city, ignored the usual clothes, personals and photo/jewellery and went down to the Royal Shanghai Cricket Club and unscrewed the brass plaque of the wall and took it out. For decades, it hung in the Royal Hong Kong Cricket Club and then became the trophy between them and the then newly constituted Shanghai CC. I played in the first match.....we in Shanghai lost respectably.
