Where and how did these nicknames come about and are the police bothered about being abused with these names on a daily basis both irl and online?

One name which seems to have disappeared now was 'the rozzers'.
The Beasts???
I think they are used to it these days, sadly.
One would hope that they had thicker skins than that.

Obviously they would have been coined by those who aren't keen on the police looking into their activities.
Don't forget 'the busies' and in the old gay slang, 'Lily Law'.
Not all such terms have citable origins, many are regional and a lot came via Australia.
