Physical Attacks On Our Emergency Services ..

Why does society attack those services that are there to protect us?
This is happening not just in Manchester. Fire crews wearing body cams, ambulance staff being abused. What's in the minds of these people, why is this behavior in the rise?

I can't answer your question but when i had the accident with the tram, was before 11a.m. I was brought to the a&e, other patients and all their extended family and friends must have accompanied them there all seemed to reek of alcohol, no excuse but it was strange for me, maybe because my accident was in the capital, everyone was drunk/tipsy and abusive to the staff looking after us, every member of staff that came to me, when they were discussing my case they'd say, and she's compliant - no substance abuse! I was patient waiting for test results while the others (nothing to do with my accident) were aggressive, tetchy and there was a feeling that there would be a riot at any given time, I was so happy to be let loose from that hospital and given the all clear

Sadly, that seems to be the root of it ducksie, can't handle their drink!

It's the only thing I could see was the problem, I even seen some fella coming in with the Gardai, foul mouth out and hand cuffed, I tell ya, no wonder the Dublin Fire and Ambulance crew liked me :) I was like a mouse to everyone else - I should have been treated for trauma after just that visit

Can't prove it, but I think some of those doing the abusing would be the first to run to the papers saying that they'd had to wait 5 hours for an ambulance to arrive.

These crimes are perpetrated by people who see anyone in authority as the enemy. Unfortunately there is a whole section of society who bring their children up with this attitude and so it is propagated.

Anybody found guilty of this despicable behaviour should automatically receive a six month prison sentence.

It is inexcusable. Is it on the rise? When I did Nursing about 15 years ago, we were told them that nurses are the most likely to be attacked out of any profession. They have an entire module on "Violence and Aggression" (carers do too). The problem is if you are closely working with people who are panicking/ scared / in pain... they don't always behave in a calm and rational manner.

Remember seeing some footage on the news some time back when emergency services (vehicles) where being attacked by bottle throwing plonkers.

Pixie - a module on violence and aggression? lawdy, that is scary, sad and depressing (am going to run out of adjectives)
Such a shame society hasn't improved it's behaviour to those who are wanting to help.

I think paramedics, especially, are amazing. They have no idea what they are walking into and just have to deal with whatever they find.

I find it unbelievable that those that help cop abuse and violence.

My son-in-law is a highly trained paramedic, bachelor of science in his field, rescue trained, dangles from helicopters etc.

The most dangerous cases he attends are drug and/or alcohol fueled.

He would much rather tackle high seas, waterfalls, abseil down cliffs, motor accidents etc. than attend drunken drugged idiots.

But, it's all part of his job, no picking and choosing.

The unloved and abused that save lives.

The only issue during the fires was "officials that knew better".

Sent police in to stop people trying to save their lives work, their family farm and their stock.

The officials were not abused or intimidated, only scorned for their lack of " local knowledge". Shame the people that were controlling the fire fight were in a major city 300kms away and had no idea of the land in which it was happening.

There is now an investigation happening as to why.

No lives were lost, the officials major claim to fame, but lot's of stock and property.

Many farmers have told me 1000 head of their cattle were cremated alive, no sign of any remains, We could have moved them to a safer area.

But,,,,the powers that be.
