I have a fake fur jacket, but it's obviously fake. No could mistake it for real.
I did try on a vintage fur coat once, but had no idea if it was real or not. I looked like a bag lady in it anyway.

In -30s synthetic fibres dont repel moisture as fur does. Its the hydrophobic feature of real fur in freezing weather that fur is a necessity.

Still available to buy brand new mink, fox, rabbit and raccoon. I wouldn't buy- they're crazy prices and in my opinion, look naff.
I don't wear either....what they didn't mention is that the microshedding thing is a problem with all fleecy synthetics not just fake fur....they have mentioned it before and done a piece on it.
oh and yes I knew that in China fur is often used to make trim on garments and labelled as fake....I understand that the problem with looking for the skin on the back of the fur is that its not always helpful as the fur is shaved off the skin and then the fibres are used to make "fake" fur.
Even some of the animals are now wearing fake fur.
How many are appalled by the use of Fur , but are happy to use Leather? ( or to eat meat) Both fur and leather come from the skin of a dead animal, what's the difference?

Nearly all leather comes from animals killed for their meat.
That is the difference Eddie, vanity vs sustainance.
Weren't they making the point that since we now know that the world has a waste plastic ptoblem, faux fur isn't a great idea either ?

Killing for food is part of normal life. Life feeds on life. It is that we've been brought up to be soft, that allows these weird anti-meat morality philosophies to emerge. However killing exclusively for material for clothing shows a considerable lack of value/concern for other species. Now if anyone has a recipe for roast mink...
old geezer wrote “these weird anti-meat morality philosophies to emerge”

Like Buddhism, old geezer?
Probably; but weird anti-meat morality philosophies may well have other routes to their creation.
..Neither... real is cruel and fake gets tatty quickly
Unlike meat, where meat-eating is cruel and fake is often a reasonable substitute (Quorn, for example).

Unless you follow Old Geezer's 'logic', of course.
I don’t understand why manufacturers would sell real fur which is expensive for faux fur which is dirt cheap.

A one off I’d guess.
