Do you turn off the TV when visitors call? We've always switched off immediately when someone visits, family members included.
It seems to me that this used to be the norm, but appears to be less so, more's the pity.

In the days when few people had a TV (remember them?) it was. ''Come in,sit down, shut up It's on.'' They had probably come to watch TV anyway.

of course we switch off when visitors arrive but it's not a problem as we only watch recorded programmes :-)

Yes, if it is something I particularly want to see, I hit the record button.
Yes, especially when those pesky Capita TV licence people call.
I sometimes do home tutoring on behalf of schools and the TV seems to be on permanently during some sessions but they do turn the sound down/off.
I switch it off but I've noticed that in most homes the TV is just ön" and nobody is acyually watching it.
We always turn it off. If we really want to finish watching the prog we simply record it.
Always off...Very rude not to in my opinion

Lol Eddie ..them were the days !
It was de rigeur in our house. As soon as there was a knock oat the door the TV would be turned off,
unless there is something i need to show them, which is rare, then it goes off immediately.
